Augmentation incision scars
All ways to place a breast implant into the body result in some access scar. The scar’s location is usually under the breast, or around the areola, or in the armpit. The length of the access scar for breast augmentation depends on the plastic surgeon. Scars can be well concealed using all access incision; while sometimes the position, orientation, and length of the scar make it less likely to be concealed. The woman’s genetics also play a role in how well the scar will heal after the breast implants have been placed.

This woman had a breast augmentation done elsewhere several years prior to coming to the office. She requested the old scar to be revised. Note that this length scar is much longer than Dr. Brown's incision. This is the length of incision that previously had given the under the breast incision a bad name. The lines denote where the older scar will be cut away and then resewn together.
