Northern Virginia Breast implants pictures of double bubble
When the fold is not managed adequately during the breast augmentation surgery, it may lead to the fold being pulled away from the ribs and the breast implant slipping under the fold. This will result in the adverse consequence known as ‘double bubble’.
This complication can occur if the breast implant settles below the natural fold of the breast. It can be noticed on some women after breast augmentation when they lift their arms up over their head; while in other women it is noticeable all the time. This can be corrected with a second plastic surgery if the woman is concerned about it or that it may get worse. Ideally with knowledge of breast anatomy for breast augmentation this problem can be avoided.

This woman had a previous breast augmentation and presented for larger breast implants. She had had her inframammary folds (breast creases) released from her ribs and the breast implants have settled lower. Now she has the ‘double bubble’ on the underside of her breasts. You can see that it was partially corrected during the implant exchange procedure. These after photos are only two months after implant exchange surgery. This crease should continue to resolve over time since it was released during the second surgery. She does not live in Virginia so no long term photos are available.

This woman had her breast augmentation done elsewhere and was very disappointed with how her breasts settled. They were too high and she wanted them lower. She developed a double bubble after the fold lowering to place the breast implant in a position that she now loves. She was not concerned about this finding that is only visible with her arms over her head.
